Step:1

 

For Nonimmigrant Visa applicants, Decide your visa type by reading Common Nonimmigrant Visas. Each visa type defines the qualifications and application items. Choose the visa type that justifies your situation.

Don’t forget to also review the Visa Waiver Program. If your country is engaged in the Visa Waiver Program, you don’t need to apply for a visa if you are traveling for business or pleasure and will only be remaining in the United States for 90 days or less.

Note: If you are below 14 or over 79 years old, or if you earlier received a uk visa Service that expired within the last 12 months and you are coming back to the United States for the same purpose of travel, you may be able to get a visa without reaching to the consulate for an interview. Step:2

 

The next step is to fill the form. Make sure to read the Guidelines for Completing the DS-160 Form cautiously. All information must be true and accurate. After the form submission, you cannot make any changes. If you need help, please refer to an immigration lawyer or translator. The call center cannot assist you to complete your DS-160. You will require your DS-160 number to book your appointment.

Note: If declined visa previously please complete a new Nonimmigrant Visa Electronic Application (DS-160) form.

 

Step 3

Once you have decided the correct visa type and completed the DS-160, you must pay the visa fee. The visa fee page lists the visa types and corresponding visa fee in US dollars and native currency.

To pay your visa fee, refer to the Bank and Payment Options page. This page describes how to make your visa fee payment. You will make a profile and should keep your receipt number to book your visa appointment

 

Step 4

 

You are almost there to schedule your visa appointment! Now you will log in to your profile with the same credentials you used to pay your visa fee. Once you are on the website, you will see your dashboard. Go to Schedule Appointment on the left-hand side menu. This will commence the process of scheduling your appointment.

You must book two appointments, one for the Visa Application Center (VAC) and one for the visa interview at the Embassy or Consulate.

First, book your appointment at a Visa Application Center. This appointment will permit you to go to one of the five Visa Application Center locations to have your fingerprints and photo taken. This appointment must be at least 1 day prior to your visa interview appointment at the Embassy or Consulate.

Second, book your visa interview appointment at the Embassy or Consulate. You will need three pieces of information in order to book your appointment:

  •         Your passport number
  •         The date of fee payment
  •         The ten (10) digit barcode number of your DS-160 confirmation page

As you walk through the process you will be able to pick your visa type, enter personal data, add dependents, select your document delivery location, confirm visa payment, and book your appointment.

 

Step 5

 

To book an appointment for your Visa Application Centre, you will need to bring:

 

  •         A passport valid for travel to the United States with validity dates at least six months beyond your intended period of stay in the United States (unless country-specific agreements provide exemptions). If two or more person is included in your passport, each person looking for a visa must submit an application.
  •         Your DS-160 confirmation page.
  •         Your appointment confirmation page.
  •         One photograph as per U.S. visa requirements if the applicant is below 14 years of age. Refer to Photos and Fingerprints page for more details.

 

 

Step6

 

After your visit to the Visa Application Centre to have your photo and fingerprints taken, you will then going to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate on the time of your visa interview. You must bring :

  •         A printed copy of your appointment letter,
  •         Your DS-160 confirmation page
  •         Your current and all previous passports
  •         Supporting Documents as per your visa type

Applications missing any of these documents will not be accepted.

 

Note: Children below 14 years of age do not need to attend the appointment at the Visa Application Centre or visa interview at the Embassy/Consulate. Accompany/Guardians/Parents can bring above documents

Supporting Documents

In addition to these items, you must provide an interview appointment letter confirming that you have an appointment through this service. You may also bring whatever supporting documents you believe backing the information provided to the consular officer..

Caution: Do not present false documents. Wrong or misrepresentation can result in permanent visa ineligibility.

You should bring the mentioned documents to your interview. Original documents are always recommended over photocopies and you must carry these documents with you to the interview. Do not send through fax, email or mail any supporting documents to the Embassy or Consulate.

  • Current evidence of income, tax payments, property or business ownership, or assets.
  • Your travel planning and/or other explanation about your planned trip.
  • A letter from your employer compromising your position, salary, how long you have been employed for, any authorized vacation, and the business purpose, if any, of your U.S. trip.
  • Criminal/court records belonging to an arrest or conviction anywhere, even if you completed your sentence or were later pardoned.

In addition to this, based on your purpose of travel, you should consider bringing the following:

Students

carry your latest school results, transcripts and degrees/diplomas. Also bring proof of financial support such as monthly bank statements, fixed deposit slips, or other evidence.

 

US-Tourist-Business-Visa

Working Adults

Carry an employment letter from your employer and pay slips from the most recent three months.

 

Business visitors and company directors

Carry evidence of your position in the company and remuneration.

 

Visiting a relative

Carry photocopies of your relative’s proof of status (e.g. Green Card, naturalization certificate, valid visa, etc).

 

Previous visitors to the United States

If you were earlier in the United States, any documents attesting to your immigration or visa status.
